Stellar Recovery Finds Link Between Health and Wealth

Stellar Recovery, Inc., a third party debt collection company and licensed debt purchaser initiated a health and wellness program—Stellar Life—to encourage healthy lifestyle choices and increase productivity amongst its employees. The first company-wide health and wellness challenge came to a close this past weekend.

Employees from Stellar Recovery’s Jacksonville, Florida and Kalispell, Montana offices participated in a 12-week team challenge focused on diet, exercise, positive attitude and work performance. Employees report a higher satisfaction at work, lowered stress levels and healthier lifestyle choices. As a result, employee turn-over, absenteeism, and consumer-related complaints have decreased across both sites.

Stellar Life was established in April 2014 as it began developing a customized health challenge for Stellar Recovery, which was initiated at the beginning of June. The goal of the program was to increase health consciousness and reduce costs associated with compliance, absenteeism and turn over. During the challenge, employees had access to weekly health and wellness workbooks, and modules, company sponsored gym memberships, and healthier office snack options (fresh fruit, healthy protein bars, smoothies and bottled water).

The positive effect can be seen and felt throughout the company and beyond, with many employees expressing an identity with the program and with their families at home.

Seth Hansen, a collections agent from Stellar Recovery’s Jacksonville office shares the impact Stellar Life has had on him personally, “I absolutely love this program! I have seen a drastic change in not only myself but the people that I work with that have been involved. I have gone from never going to the gym or being very active on a regular basis, to going to the gym pretty much every day and being much more active with my wife and kids at home. It has also changed the way that I look at work, has given me a much more positive attitude and more energy. I truly believe that this is the best program Stellar has put in place.”

Following the success of its first organized challenge, Stellar Recovery adopts the Stellar Life program as part of their cultural foundation and will continue investing in the health and wellness of its employees.
