ACA International’s 74th Annual Convention & Expo — I can’t wait!

I find all industry events rejuvenating, but I especially love this conference because there are lots of attendees and the agenda is packed with regulation information (my favorite!).

I also can’t miss it because I need to:

  • Mingle with all my old friends — customers, vendors, competitors — and make some new friends.

  • Explore the expo hall for new technology (and find the coolest giveaway!).

  • Arm myself — and my company — with regulatory knowledge.

  • Pick up more ways to improve my business.

  • Support ACA International.

I’m lucky to have an army of IAT employees coming to man the booth — plus a moose and a buffalo, courtesy of David Evans, IAT’s resident painter — so I can roam the conference freely and learn. There is an excellent line-up of topics and plenty of opportunities to associate with other attendees.

Below is a list of sessions I plan to attend, I wish time permitted me to attend even more sessions.  I’m really hoping to make it to them all. Look for me at the following sessions:

Sunday:

CFPB’s Complaint Database for Debt Collection is Coming: What you Need to Know!” (3:15 p.m.): I’ve heard a lot about this database, which is nearly deployed. I’m anxious to learn everything the ACA knows!

Monday:

Opening Session, President’s Address, Keynote Speaker” (8:00 a.m.): I look forward to hearing from our president, Tom Stockton.

Update from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau” (11: 00 a.m.): I’ll be there to hear straight from the CFPB about their supervision program and how it will effect collections; join me!

Call Recordings – Do’s and Don’ts” (2:15 p.m.): This is a critical session for me because of IAT’s involvement with call recording. I am eager to learn any new regulation information and compliance/training tips.

What’s New with TCPA” (4:00 p.m.): Keeping current with TCPA activities is a top priority for me. Careful study of new regulation and court rulings is a critical part of maintaining IAT’s compliance capabilities.

Tuesday:

General Session – Embracing Change: How High-Performing Individuals Adapt” (8:00 a.m.): I hope to learn something I can apply towards my own success. I’m also looking forward to hearing from ACA’s 2013/2014 President Leslie Bender and CEO Patrick Morris regarding the future of ACA.

‘Unconventional’ Best Ideas: Participant-Driven Small Discussion Groups” (10:10 a.m.): Good ideas and networking opportunities. I’m eager to learn from other participants about their business and collecting successes. I love hearing about how you faced a particular challenge and then adapted your business to overcome it.  Come share your ideas with me!

I encourage you to attend the ACA International conference. Plan ahead so you can make it to the sessions that interest you. I also encourage you to interact with and talk to the other attendees. Look for me. I would love to shake your hand and get to know you.

What is it at this year’s ACA International Conference can YOU not afford to miss?
