Citigroup, Inc. Thursday disclosed an online security breach that exposed credit card account information for about 200,000 North American customers, according to an AP report.

The bank discovered the breach after routine monitoring. It said that about one percent of its 21 million North American credit card accounts were exposed.

The data that was exposed did not include Social Security numbers or secret personal safety information, such as PINs. But the hackers did access information such as names, account numbers, and contact information, including email addresses.

Citi said that it is currently in the process of notifying customers that were affected and that it is putting additional measures into place to prevent such an attack in the future.
