It’s the 11th hour for an $11 billion cut to Medicare, unless Congress and the president reach a compromise on tomorrow’s sequester cuts.
Although it will be up to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to determine exactly how that cut will be implemented, Medicare reimbursements to healthcare providers are facing a 2 percent cut.
The reductions, part of Budget Control Act of 2011 that forces reductions in the federal budget, appears to be a fait accompli. The cuts, which originally were slated to begin Jan. 1, were postponed two months by the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012.
MedPage Today has an detailed summary of the cuts and what providers can expect.
