Stellar Recovery, Inc. recently received notification from The Jacksonville Business Journal that Chief Operations Officer and Treasurer Garrett Schanck has been selected and recognized as one of the 40 top executives under 40 years old. The selection was based on “those under the age of 40 who are making a difference in our community, especially in the business world.”

Garrett Schanck’s selection was based on professional accomplishments in the past year, nominee’s previous professional accomplishments & community involvement.

Garrett started in the collection industry while in high school attending Bishop Kenny. Garrett worked part time during the school year and full time during the summer with a nation accounts receivable company. Garrett after graduating from Bishop Kenny, went on to Florida State University.  He completed an internship with Stellar Recovery his senior year, attended the Debt Buyer Association retreat in Napa Valley and studied abroad in Florence, Italy. Only two short days after graduating Florida State University with a degree in Applied Economics and a minor in Business Garrett relocated from Tallahassee, FL to Kalispell, MT. Garrett relocated back to Florida in December of 2010 to manage the new call center that opened in January of 2011. He was promoted twice in 2011 and is now managing the entire operation for the company as Treasurer and COO.  He currently is an active member of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, American Collectors Association, and Debt Buyer Association. Garrett is an avid sportsmen playing golf for Bishop Kenny and attending the Ledbetter Golf Academy. He is an accomplished hockey player, snow skier, fisherman, ice climber and camper. In 2011 he placed 10th in the Jacksonville Greater ATT King Fishing Tournament and 3rd in the Wahoo category.

Garrett has impacted Stellar’s top line revenues in 2010 by increasing them from $4.5M to $18M in 2011. Projected 2012 revenues will exceed $40M. The addition of the Jacksonville office in January of 2011 and under Garrett’s direction Stellar added 100 new employees which help hit the revenue goals and improve client performance.

Garrett is extremely involved with the community because he understands the need for jobs in the local area and appreciates the daily hardships that consumers encounter in our current economy.  While attending Bishop Kenny high school he started working with HabJax and is still currently involved.  He began to broaden his community efforts at Florida State University.  As a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity he participated in several philanthropy and charity events including dance marathons and working with the Boys and Girls club in Tallahassee, FL.  Garrett also encourages his staff to be involved and has chaired fundraising events for his company to include local Food Banks, Salvation Army, Florida Georgia Blood Alliance, and Big Brother Big Sister of Montana and Florida.  He has sponsored local and national golf events and was awarded 1st and 3rd place which resulted in charitable donations. Education has been a key factor in Garrett’s success and he gives back to the community by donating funds for scholarship programs at Bishop Kenny, and is the youngest Golden Chief for the FSU Booster club.
