To enable its network physicians to better focus on patient care while addressing operational and revenue challenges, St. Joseph Medical Center has selected McKesson’s Revenue Management Solutions (RMS) group to manage its medical billing processes. The Reading, Pa. physicians will deploy McKesson Practice Complete™, a bundled solution which provides RMS services including patient billing, accounts receivable management and reporting, along with Horizon Practice Plus practice management software and RelayHealth payor connectivity services.
With this announcement, St. Joseph joins eight Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) practices, representing more than 250 physicians, currently relying on McKesson RMS to manage revenue management services. As a result, St. Joseph expects to benefit from sharing a common platform for collecting and interpreting financial data with other CHI organizations.
“We needed a partner who could provide a high level of customer service by treating our patients with courtesy and compassion while simultaneously optimizing our revenue and delivering the reporting we needed to make strategic business decisions,” said David Lim, chief financial officer, St. Joseph Medical Center. “We chose McKesson to handle all facets of billing and collections for our physicians because of the company’s deep industry knowledge and proven track record of working with its clients – including many of our fellow CHI members – to produce real and sustainable value.”
St. Joseph Medical Center also plans to use McKesson’s robust reporting capabilities to enable managers at both the local and corporate level to use data obtained from patient encounters to develop benchmarks for practice performance.
“We’re very pleased that St. Joseph has selected McKesson to meet the revenue cycle needs of its physician practice group,” said Pat Leonard, senior vice president and general manager for McKesson’s RMS group. “In today’s challenging healthcare environment, physicians need efficient solutions to streamline operations and ensure they have the time and resources to provide the best patient care possible.”
McKesson’s RMS group is the nation’s leading provider of medical billing and accounts receivable management services with more than 1,000 customers. The group is supported by a team of 4,000 employees dedicated to helping physicians grow revenues, control costs and reduce regulatory risk.
