Today, March 14, 2013, The National List of Attorneys published the white paper on debt collection law in Nevada, written by attorney Ronald H. Reynolds, Senior Partner, Reynolds & Associates. They have been members of The National List since 1986.
From its roots at Callister & Reynolds, one of Nevada’s oldest and most respected firms, Reynolds & Associates continues a tradition of experience, integrity, and excellence. With its extensive Las Vegas heritage and cutting edge representation, Reynolds & Associates is, as the Nevada state slogan proclaims, “Wide Open” to continue its legacy of excellence in serving its clients.
Ronald H. Reynolds, a third generation Nevadan, is the senior partner at Reynolds & Associates and has been a practicing attorney for 36 years. He received his Bachelor’s Degree at Brigham Young University and Juris Doctor from Gonzaga University. In his various capacities, he has been active as a speaker at seminars and has authored numerous articles. He specializes in business law, collections, financial institutions and general corporate representation. Eighty percent of his practice is dedicated to debt collection. Ronald is an AV rated attorney with Martindale-Hubble and, throughout his career in litigation, has taken part in molding Nevada law in the areas of creditors’ and employers’ rights and duties.
Ronald told us, “If you’re going to be issuing credit or purchasing debt in Nevada, you will find it helpful to get some background on the basic contours of the collection process. Understanding the basics of associated licensing, fees, regulations, and exemptions will help you to better evaluate your investment opportunities and avoid some of the common pratfalls that may make eventual collection a headache.”
When asked to tell us something interesting that debt collection work has taught him, Ronald said, “Many debtors live up to your expectations of them. If you see them as wanting to repay and wanting to be honest and they see that, there is a higher likelihood of settlement.” He finds “resolving conflict” to be the thing he enjoys most about his job. He adds, “Nevada has the highest unemployment and highest foreclosure rate in the country, and more debtors as a result. The courts and legislature are correspondingly more debtor friendly than in the past.”
In addition to his AV Rating, Ronald was elected to the National Order of Barristers. He is a member of the Commercial Law League of America (CLLA), the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys (NARCA), the Nevada Development Authority, the Chamber of Commerce and the Nevada State and County Bars. The firm supports Polio Plus, Injured Warriors and Rotary charities.
Ronald has been married for 40 years and is obviously very proud of his nine children. He told us, “I have eight sons and one daughter. Three are doctors, three are attorneys, one is the lead singer for Imagine Dragons and the last two are still blooming.” When he’s not working, Ronald enjoys fly fishing, music and writing.
The National List thanks Ronald for submitting this paper and for telling us something about himself and his firm. You can access the paper at http://www.nationallist.com/white_papers/nevada.
