I.C. System is pleased to announce that Thomas S. Gavinski has rejoined the company as Vice President of Healthcare. Mr. Gavinski reports directly to Ken Rapp, President and CEO, and is responsible for the Healthcare Division’s overall strategies including new business development and operations.
“I have known Tom for nearly three decades as he has grown into the healthcare receivables management business,” said Ken Rapp. “He has debt collection experience here at I.C. System as well as many years of client-side experience. He has managed start-up receivable management departments as well as one of the largest healthcare receivable management organizations in the nation. He is often a featured speaker at conferences and has been a valued consultant and advisor to many of his industry peers. I am happy about his return to I.C. System after more than 20 years away. Our thousands of healthcare clients will greatly benefit from his broad experience.”
Mr. Gavinski comes to I.C. System from Allina Hospitals & Clinics (Minneapolis) where he was responsible for the entire revenue cycle for 11 hospitals: hospital revenues of $2.5 Billion and A/R of $600 Million. He directed a staff of 300 employees for the Business Office, Revenue Cycle Management Department, and several Insource Companies. Additionally, Mr. Gavinski had responsibility for several revenue-cycle related projects, including Patient Access and Health Information Management.
Prior to Allina, Mr. Gavinski was Vice President of Corporate Collections for the Sisters of St. Francis Health System (Indianapolis). And, he previously operated a healthcare consulting business that provided self pay accounts receivable business start up, training, and assessment services to approximately 150 healthcare organizations in the United States. From 1979 to 1986, Mr. Gavinski was I.C. System’s Call Center Operations Manager.
“I am really excited about the healthcare opportunities at I.C. System,” said Gavinski. “Over the past 20 years, I have seen healthcare providers struggle with revenue management issues. Declining reimbursement, higher costs, and increases in self pay patient and charity care populations are straining healthcare’s revenue management performance. I.C. System is well positioned in the healthcare market to provide much-needed revenue management solutions to providers. Our vision is to strengthen the financial health of providers through services that improve cash flow, decrease uncompensated care, and reduce costs.”
Mr. Gavinski is certified as a Credit Executive with the International Consumer Credit Association and was previously the Executive Director of the National Healthcare Collectors Association. He has been awarded the HFMA Follmer Bronze Merit Award and the National Healthcare Collections Association’s William F. Rock Award. Mr. Gavinski holds a Masters of Business Administration Certificate from St. Thomas University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin.
