Consumers whose credit was damaged or who were intimidated by the illegal sales tactics of a Pennsylvania collection agency and a Delaware bank may be able to get some money back through a settlement with the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office.
Cross Country Bank of Wilmington, Del., and Applied Card Systems of Glen Mills, Delaware County, have agreed to reimburse customers for improperly disclosed fees and charges. Customers must make their claim before Jan. 7.
The settlement also has the companies paying $450,000 in fines and other costs.
Attorney General Jerry Pappert sued the companies in June, accusing them of preying on customers with poor credit and terrorizing them with harassing phone calls when they were unable to pay mounting, sometimes hidden, fees.
